Gisande

Gold

Gold is one of the densest of all metals. It is a good conductor of heat and electricity. It is also soft and the most malleable and ductile of the elements; an ounce (31.1 grams; gold is weighed in troy ounces) can be beaten out to 187 square feet (about 17 square metres) in extremely thin sheets called gold leaf.

Tin(Cassiterite)

The Gisande Trading tin mines comprise underground cassiterite mines in the areas of Gatsibo and Bugesera districts of the Eastern province of Rwanda and Karongi and Nyamasheke districts of the Western province. Our mines host one of the biggest cassiterite deposits in Africa.

Tungsten (Wolframite)

It has many uses, however, it is commonly used to produce electrical wires, and for heating and electrical contacts. The critical metal is also used in welding, heavy metal.

Tantalum(Coltan)

With Rwanda currently the world’s single largest producer of the tantalum mineral known as coltan, we also share this opportunity of being the largest exporter of the mineral in the country.
Our coltan mines are located in Nyamasheke and Karongi districts in the Western Province, Gatsibo and Bugesera districts of the Eastern Province. We are the greatest producers of the dull black metallic ore from which the elements niobium and tantalum are extracted.

Beryllium

Beryllium is a chemical element with the symbol Be and atomic number 4. It is a steel-gray, strong, lightweight and brittle alkaline earth metal. It is a divalent element that occurs naturally only in combination with other elements to form minerals.

Spodumene Lithium

Spodumene is a lithium-rich mineral pivotal in lithium extraction for batteries, crucial for powering electric vehicles and storing renewable energy. Its high lithium content and abundance make it a cornerstone in the transition to sustainable energy systems.

Amblygonite Lithium

Amblygonite, a lithium-rich mineral, is crucial for lithium-ion battery production, powering devices from smartphones to electric vehicles. Its abundance of lithium and aluminum make it valuable in advancing sustainable energy solutions.

Lepidolite Lithium

Lepidolite, a lithium-rich mineral, is not only a source of lithium for batteries but also valued for its soothing lavender color and metaphysical properties, often used in jewelry and spiritual practices.

Amethyst

Amethyst is primarily used in jewelry, where it is fashioned into various types of accessories such as rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Its attractive purple hue adds a touch of elegance to any piece. Beyond jewelry, amethyst is also used in decorative items like sculptures and ornaments.
